Pentecost Sunday – Wear red to church!

Sunday, May 27 is Pentecost Sunday. You are invited to wear red.Pentecost marks the birth of the Christian church. It’s the 50th day after Easter. Just as fire rested upon the heads of the first disciples and the holy spirit gave them the power to proclaim the gospel, so are we called to proclaim! Red is the liturgical colour for this day. Red recalls the tongues of flame in which the Holy Spirit descended on the first Pentecost.

The 9am service will be held in the sanctuary. The 11am service will be held in Friendship Park, weather permitting, and will be followed by the congregational picnic (Please bring your own lawn chair, plates and beverages as well as potluck food. Tea and coffee will be available).

Refugee support committee to be formed

Zion congregation has agreed to support bringing a refugee family to Saskatoon.
We are looking for six volunteers who are interested in serving on this committee. Please express your interest for this exciting opportunity by June 15, 2012.

CORRECTION: Shake up your Sunday with Zumba fitness!

Zion is hosting an introductory Zumba class THIS SUNDAY afternoon at 3:00pm. (our previous post made it sound like it was yesterday…sorry)

Zumba is a Latin-based fitness program. It’s lots of fun and great exercise. You don’t have to know how to dance! Just come and enjoy. Men and women are welcome. Cost will be $5 or less per person based on attendance numbers. Enjoy some potluck (healthy) snacks afterwards.

Class begins at 3pm sharp. Wear comfortable clothes and running shoes. Don’t forget a bottle of water. Invite your friends!

Everyone is welcome.

Plan to attend Sunday’s special meeting

A special meeting of Zion’s membership will be held Sunday, May 6 at 12:30 p.m.We will review the budget documents and review a request for refugee sponsorship. This is a brown-bag lunch meeting. Please bring your lunch.
